Thanks for stopping by for a chat… can I offer you a glass of wine, or a cold beer?

--- --- ---

I’ve never thought of myself as a “foodie” by the usual definition. What I am is one who loves the socialization of food, be it a family dinner at home, a night at the pub, or a celebration of food & wine and friends at a first-class restaurant.

The-man-in-my-life (in my posts, referred to as “The Man”) isn’t even close to being what one would consider a food-snob, LOL… but he knows what he likes and doesn’t like. And when it comes to eating out, he enjoys a tasty meal with good service and appropriate atmosphere. For us these are the 3 pillars of a good experience, whether we are at a local pub to watch a hockey game, chowing down on authentic street food or dining at a 5 star restaurant.

As is the case with food, our interest in wine is similar. “The Man” however has a more discerning palate, while I am the one who has a more academic interest. I enjoy gathering information from various sources such as cookbooks, wine journals, on-line sites (such as this one) and hands-on in the kitchen or classroom.

Since we met, food has been a shared adventure. We enjoy the Ottawa Food & Wine Show, Prince Edward County Taste, Niagara Wine Country and eating out at a variety of establishments on a regular basis. We hope in the not to distant future that we will be able to travel and take in the wine regions in Italy, France and California (and maybe even someday the new world regions in the Southern Hemisphere).

I look forward to reading and learning (as well as sharing) with you all in the months to come.

Cheers !

Food & Think, can you add an entry into the travel wiki for me? I had a fabulous dinner at Petite in Calgary, AB.

Thanks!

Re: digitalman and his review on the old fish market: the least he could do is spell Ottawa (Ottowa) right, no?!

Hi Food&Think - I missed your comments about adding my Toronto restaurant review to the OF Travel Wiki. Sure, please help add the entries for me. Much appreciated.

Hi Food & Think - thanks for the welcome to the Ottawa Foodies forum. I didn't realize that there was a thread on my chocolate business (yes, Zym was referring to me!) - how cool! I'm running the business out of my home right by the Parkdale Market until I find a location that works. :)

Cheers!

I see you added our us to your places "To Try". Just want to say that I can't wait for you to come out, and after reading your profile, I'm sure this will be the type of place you enjoy eating at. You probably hear that all the time though...lol.
Cheers

F&T I like your recent reviews on Perth restaurants! I grew up there and my parents still have a place on Otty Lake.

Some other local hotspots you should check out - Fiddleheads, Hungry Planet, and Skye Dragon.

Hey F&T,

The previous oversight has been rectified. Wine is now on the list ;)
