Well you can't go wrong with any Indonesia place in Amsterdam. My last trip to Amsterdam was in 2006 on my way back from Israel. Several Indonesia restaurants seves ' rijsttafels' which is a ridiculous amount of miniature plates, you could literally try 30 dishes or so. It was fantastic.

I have been to Amsterdam about 5 times, last trip about 2 years ago. You find this hard to believe, most good places to eat are in the Red Light District -its where all the Tourist go, so they put up some amazing food stops. Also some very good shopping in the area as well. Its so odd to see windows with ladies standing in beside a Bread shop and other shops. And for desert, you'll have drop into one of the many Coffee Shop and try a few "Space Cookies" In about an hour or two, you'll be looking to eat again ;-)
South of Spain - where exactly? The Costa del Sol region. This area is know for its Andalusian family-style dishes. Lots of seafood and veggies!! Follow that up with some good wine and you are all set. If this is the area you are going to visit, its an amazing place to beach and eat. If its 2 weeks, you should take the ferry to Morocco for a day of shopping and eating. Just be aware that Camel and Pigeon is part of the diet in Morocco - but like they say "It all tastes like Chicken !!
Have a safe and great trip

Stop by Puccini Bomboni in Amsterdam for gorgeous, hand-made chocolates. Two locations, one on Singel and the other behind the Waterlooplein.
For dining in Amsterdam, I like Les Zinc et les Autres on the Prinsengraacht--traditional French, well-done and decent value. Sluizer on the...Utrechtsestraat I think...is well-priced bistro fare--nice atmosphere, solid food.

I second the Indonesian food in Amsterdam; it's excellent and quite unlike anything I had ever tried before. I also loved the Dutch- delis with smoked eel sandwiches and all kinds of very particular Dutch delicacies. The pickled and smoked herring in the flower market was also a real highlight from a food perspective.
Andalusian food is amazing, given a bit of time I might be able to remember some of the better spots I visited in Malaga and Grenada. Dishes of note for me include rabo de toro, paella negra (or even simple arroz negro) made with squid ink, the ham is to die for, and i particularly loved Arab style tapas joints were the food was free with each drink you purchased, not that i needed that much incentive to buy another frost - covered beer!

Our itinerary is 2 weeks in the South of Spain and 3 days in Amsterdam. Nobody has posted to the Wiki about either of these places...
Does anyone have any good food recommendations (food or vendors) for either?
Cheers,
