Apparently this amazing culture can make yogurt on your countertop, no heating required! I have yet to find a Canadian supplier for it--all suppliers seem to ship only to the US. It is variously known as "Fil", "Fil Mjölk", and "Filmjölk". Any help finding this in Ottawa is much appreciated!!

LOBLAWS sells bacteria culture in the Organic fridge section, it's something like $30 but comes with many packets. To make it you add it to fresh milk which then is placed on your countertop.

I loved filmjolk when I was in Sweden. It is usually sold in tetrapaks there.

I don't know anywhere you can buy it in Ottawa, but this online vendor sells a dehydrated culture and ships internationally:
