Note to all people familiar with Khat. IT IS ILLEGAL IN CANADA, as a plant and its active ingredient.
"In Canada, cathinone is a controlled substance under Schedule III of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA), meaning it is illegal to possess or obtain unless approved by a medical practitioner. Punishment for the possession of khat could lead to a maximum sentence of three years in prison. The maximum punishment for trafficking or possession with the intent of trafficking is ten years in prison.[36][36]"
Thus, those of you who think that just because it is accepted in your home country, you can freely use such drugs here, get a reality check. Not only is Khat addictive, it has caused many broken families and social problems in countries with high Khat usage rates. I'm not judging people's use of narcotics, cause Canadians love their marijuana and other illegal substances, but 1. looking for illegal drugs on a public internet website is really asinine and pathetic, and we already have enough illicit substances to deal with and we don't need more.
Smarten up people.
And plus, I wouldn't trust that guy in the Khat chewing picture with digging a hole in the ground. Especially if he was hopped up on stimulants.
Khat was readily available a few yeas back before the feds ruined it.
According to Wiki: "In Canada, cathinone (Khat's active ingredient) is a controlled substance under Schedule III of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA), meaning it is illegal to possess or obtain unless approved by a medical practitioner."
Now to hook up with a Somali and/or a sympathetic medical practitioner.
I wish my doc was from Somali or Chad or Qtar or some other Khat Friendly country.
My French tutor from Djibouti stated that it is widely available in the Somali community--you just have to 'know someone.' She stated that the African stores in town have it, though it is sold 'under the counter.' This was a few years ago, so I don't know if it has become harder to find.
BaconSalt - Hmmmm... according to Wikipedia you are indeed correct. Therefore not quite sure why this entry is here... as it obviously is not attainable in Canada. But I see that it is still in the "Unapproved" category, so perhaps Fresh Foodie will review it soon.
